Lawrence is the Managing Partner of Climate Smart Ventures, a project development and transaction advisory firm, focused on mobilizing energy transitions, sustainable landscapes and innovative finance in Asia. Lawrence is a seasoned ESG and impact advisor, who brings over ten years’ experience at the nexus of sustainable development and responsible business in Asia. He has served as a Senior Advisor for a range of Fortune 500 companies, family offices, and development projects in Asia and Africa cutting across themes such as clean energy, fisheries, innovative financing, SME development, and digital inclusion. To date, Lawrence has the unique achievement of having led transactions that have resulted in fossil fuel divestments, blended finance facilities, and award-winning partnerships, that have altogether unlocked over USD 50M in sustainable investments.
Prior to his current position, Lawrence was Director for Asia for a frontier markets consulting firm, and senior manager at a leading global renewable energy company. He was a member of the Philippine Delegation to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD) from 2009-2012 negotiating on issues related to financing, land-use change and forestry. Lawrence graduated with a specialization in natural resources management from Australian National University and is an EMBA candidate at the Asian Institute of Management.
